Portugal star Cristiano Ronaldo has revealed that Vinicius Jr. deserved the Ballon d’Or.
Manchester City midfielder Rodri won the award at the France Football earlier this month after beating the Brazilian star. There was an uproar from Real Madrid fans and players as many thought Vini deserved to win it.
Speaking at the global soccer awards, Ronaldo insisted that Vinicius should have won the award over Rodri. “Vini did a fantastic job, and in my opinion, he deserved to win the Ballon d’Or. It was unfair in my opinion; I’m saying it in front of everybody. They gave it to Rodri; he deserved it too, but I think they should’ve given it to Vini because he won the Champions League and scored in the Champions League final. When you deserve it, you should give it to who deserves it.” He said.
However, Vinicius Jr. will feel relieved as he has banked two awards since the snub, as he won the FIFA Best and the best player at the global soccer awards.
