Manchester City returned to winning ways after beating Leicester City 2-0 at the King Power Stadium.
Pep Guardiola’s side had gone on a winless run in the Premier League, with the last Premier League win being a 3-0 home win over Nottingham Forest early this month. Brazilian winger Savinho opened the scoring as well as his first goal in the Premier League after his signing this season after Fodenn’s effort was saved by Stolarczyk. Haaland did brilliantly past Leicester defenders but dragged his shot wide. Leicester’s chance came through Facuondo Buonanotte; a close-range header sailed off the post.
In the second half, Leicester continued their pressure with James Justin Effoert cleared off the line by Manuel Akanji. Erling Haaland then headed in a close-range effort to finish off the game in style and end his goal drought in front of goal.
Speaking after the game, Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola praised Savinho. “I’m very happy with Savinho. An incredible ability and quality that he can prove”.I’m really, really pleased for him—for the game, the goal, and the assist, because playing on the left, you can make that cross… very happy.” He said.
