Manchester United’s poor run in the Premier League continued after losing 2-0 to Newcastle United.
Ruben Amorim has not had the best start at the club and is on a poor run of form and has now lost three consecutive Premier League games. Newcastle got the breakthrough after Alexander Isak headed in from close range early on.Eddie Howe’s side continued their pressure, and Joe Linton scored the second goal after a wonderful cross from Antony Gordon. Amorim was not happy with his side and subbed off Zirkzee and brought on Mainoo before halftime.
In the second half, United started on the front foot as Diallo’s effort sailed off the post. Lenny Yoro saw his effort just go wide from Eriksen’s corner as the home side kept on creating chances. Rashford, who was brought back in the matchday squad, was an unused sub.
Speaking after the loss, Ruben Amorim spoke of the danger of relegation. “That is really clear, and we have to fight. It is a really difficult moment, one of the worst moments in the history of Manchester United”. We have to address it with honesty, and to be clear with that, we have to fight in the next game”. He said.
