Liverpool defender Trent Alexander-Arnold is reportedly close to agreeing to a move to Real Madrid.

The England defender rose through the Liverpool academy and made his first team debut under Jurgen Klopp in October 2016. He has gone to make more than 300 appearances for the club. The 26-year-old contract will expire in three months alongside Mohammed Salah and Virgil Van Dijk. He signed a four-year contract in 2021 and has won every trophy available. He has won the Premier League and the Champions League against Spurs, alongside the FA Cup and the Carabao Cup.

Real Madrid have made the defender their priority signing since last year, especially with Dani Carvajal going into old age. They made an offer for him in January, but Liverpool insisted he was not for sale. Negotiations over a new contract have been put on hold after he rejected the last offer from the club. Arne Slot’s side are on course to win the Premier League, having been eliminated from the Champions League by PSG.
