Argentina defeated rivals Brazil 4-1 in the World Cup qualifiers on Wednesday morning.

Julián Álvarez opened the scoring early in the game after a gorgeous pass from Almada. Enzo Fernandez added the second just minutes later after Molina put a cross in the box, and the hosts were immediately in control of the game. Brazil pulled one back through Cunha after Romero’s pass was intercepted after he took too long to release the ball. Almada almost scored the third goal for the hosts, but his effort was tipped off the bar.Enzo Fernandez then turned out to assist as he found Mac Allister,who slotted the ball for Argentina’s third goal.

In the second half, Alvarez saw his effort pushed off the post once again as Brazil continued their poor display.The World Cup defending champions then added the fourth goal through Simeone, who met Taliafigo’s cross to score.

Speaking after the win, Rodrigo De Paul called out Raphinha, who said that he would score and beat Argentina before the game: “You shouldn’t talk beforehand, especially when you can’t back it up on the field afterward. As soon as he [Raphinha] said that, we sent it to the WhatsApp group. We always do our talking on the field.” He said.
