Manchester United defeated league leaders Arsenal 3-2 at the Emirates on Sunday evening.

Arsenal went into the game looking to extend the lead at the top of the table. Arsenal had the first chance of the game through Martin Zubimendi, who saw his header swatted away by Lammens. Minutes later, Arsenal took the lead when the ball hit Martinez’s feet and went into his own goal after a shot by Odegaard. United then levelled through Bryan Mbeumo, who met Zubimendi’s loose pass before beating Raya and tapping it in. Arsenal piled on more pressure through Leandro Trossard, who saw his effort sail just high over the bar.

In the second half, Patrick Dorgu scored a wonderful hit from outside the box after a lovely exchange with Bruno Fernandes and gave the away side the lead for the first time. Bukayo Saka then launched a shot outside the box, but it went off the bar. Dorgu then found himself in the box again, but his shot went just wide. Substitute Mikel Merino then levelled the scores for the home side after a mix-up in the defence. Minutes later Matheus Cunha then produced a fine shot outside the box to beat Raya and score the winning goal for United.

Speaking after the game, Michael Carrick insisted he will not get carried away by the result: “I am not getting carried away.” We’ve got some BIGGER games coming up, because every next game is the bigger game.” He said.
