Chelsea advanced to the round of 16 of the Champions League after beating Napoli 3-2 in Italy.

Rosenior’s side Chelsea needed a win to avoid a playoff phase. Enzo Fernandez opened the scoring for the away side after a penalty was awarded after a handball. Napoli grew into the game, and Sanchez made a save to deny McTominay. Napoli then drew level through Vergara, who pounced on a loose ball and beat Sanchez at his far post. The home side then took the lead through Rasmus Hojlund, who met Olivera’s cutback and gave them a half-time break.

In the second half, Cole Palmer was brought on in an effort to turn the game around. Palmer immediately had a chance, but his effort was blocked by the defender. Palmer then turned provider as he released Joao Pedro, who lashed a beauty from outside the box. Hojlund had the chance but lashed his effort high off the bar. Palmer combined again with Joao Pedro, who stood strong to score the winner in the 84th minute. Romelu Lukaku had the chance to tie the game, but Sanchez made a great save.
