The 2026 Kip Keino Classic is poised to electrify Nyayo National Stadium on April 24, as organizers finalize plans for a grand homecoming. Athletics Kenya Youth Development chairman Barnaba Korir shared promising updates from talks with Sports Stadia Director General Timothy Kilimo, calling the odds “very high” for the venue.
Last year’s event shifted to Ulinzi Sports Complex amid Nyayo and Kasarani renovations, but Nyayo—Kenya’s historic 18,000-seater—hosted the 2020 debut and 2024 edition successfully.
Korir emphasized full-speed preparations with government partners to pack the stands and elevate the World Continental Tour Gold meet toward Diamond League status.
Despite looming AFCON 2027 upgrades designating Nyayo as a training site, this could mark its third Kip Keino hosting, thrilling Kenyan fans ahead of stadium closures.
