Manchester United defeated Everton 1-0 in the Premier League to strengthen their top four chances.

Amad Diallo had the first chance of the game, but Pickford saved his low effort before Tarkowski cleared the rebound off the line. Diogo Dalot then saw his long-range effort sail just miles off target as Carrick’s side looked threatening in goal. Lammens stood strong to save James Garner’s free kick in what was Everton’s best chance of the game.

After the halftime break, Everton almost broke the deadlock after Armstrong’s curling effort was brilliantly saved by Lammens. Mbeumo had a glorious chance just minutes later, but his effort went just over the bar. Substitute Benjamin Sesko then broke the deadlock when he finished off a Mbeumo pass into the far corner. Michael Keane’s long-range effort was brilliantly saved by Lammens. Tyrique George was denied by Lammens late on as United held on to win the game.

United are in fourth place with 48 points after 27 games, just 3 points above fifth-placed Chelsea.
