Aston Villa extended their winning run in the Premier League after a 2-1 win over Manchester United.
United started the game strongly, as Benjamin Sesko got the first chance of the game, but Martinez made a great save. Ollie Watkins was put through on goal by Rogers, but his effort was blocked by Heavens. Sesko then had another great chance, but he failed to convert once again. Aston Villa then got the breakthrough when Morgan Rogers met Maatsen’s cross before cutting inside and then curling in a wonderful goal. United levelled minutes later as Cash lost the ball in a dangerous position, and Cunha made no mistake as he levelled the scores at half-time.
In the second half, United suffered a blow as Bruno Fernandes was forced off after a hamstring injury. Rogers then scored his second goal of the night in a similar curling effort. Dorgu then delivered a perfect cross, but Cunha just missed inches wide off the goal. Sesko then failed to reach Mount Cross as United kept on piling the pressure.
Speaking after the loss, Amorim confirmed the injuries. “I think Kobbie Mainoo and Bruno are out vs Newcastle. We are going to find solutions. For sure. No excuses. We need to win the next game.” He said.
