Chelsea defeated PSG 3-0 to win the inaugural FIFA Club World Cup in the USA.

PSG went into the game as the heavy favourites, especially after winning the Champions League and hammering Real Madrid 4-0 in the semi-finals. Chelsea, however, looked strong in the early stages of the game as Palmer saw his effort sail just wide. The England international, however, opened the scoring minutes later with a powerful low drive in the 22nd minute after a Gusto cutback. He then added the second goal for Chelsea just minutes later after a quick breakthrough and beat Donnarumma once again with a low drive. Palmer then set up Joao Pedro, who looped past Donnaruma to make it 3-0 and cap off a big first half for Chelsea.

In the second half, Dembele was brilliantly denied by Sanchez in the opening minutes. Doue then saw his long-range effort sail wide as PSG kept on the pressure. Vitinha also tested Sanchez again, but he pushed off his curling effort. Substitute Liam Delap almost scored the fourth goal for Chelsea after a lovely run, then unleashed a curling effort, but Donnarumma pushed it away. Joao Neves was sent off for PSG for pulling Cucurella’s hair late in the game.

Chelsea has now won the inaugural Club World Cup, which will be held every four years.
