Mohammed Bajaber has admitted he was disappointed after withdrawing from the CHAN squad for the national team.

CHAN is a tournament meant for players who play in local leagues. Bajaber was initially selected in the squad but was still nursing a hamstring injury. His form had helped the Kenya police secure the league title and also earned him a first-team call-up in the national team, where he scored in a 3-3 draw with Gabon. He was, however, forced to withdraw after completing a switch to the Tanzania side, Simba SC.

Speaking about withdrawing from the team, Bajaber admitted disappointment. “Simba is a big club, and it is a huge opportunity for me to get to play in front of a lot of fans regularly. I have only done that once before — in front of Harambee Stars fans against Gabon. As much as I was disappointed to leave the national team set-up before CHAN, I felt it was best for my career to have a full pre-season and not to rush my recovery phase.” He said.

The Harambee Stars have not lost a game in the tournament, having won 2 and drawn 1.
