Rasmus Hojlund came off the bench to score the winner as Denmark defeated Portugal 1-0.
In a game full of limited chances, Christian Eriksen saw a penalty saved by Diogo Costa after Ruben Neves had handled the ball in the box. Ronaldo saw his header sail off the post as they barely made any threat to the Denmark goal despite having the star power.
In the second half, Diogo Dalot cleared Eriksen’s effort off the line as the pressure kept piling on. Hojlund then came off the bench to score the winner in a composed finish in what went on to be the winner. The United striker has now scored in back-to-back games after initially going for 21 games without a goal.
Hojlund spoke after the game on using Ronaldo’s celebration after scoring. “It was not to mock him or anything; I’ve always said he has had great importance for me and my football career. I’m playing against the world’s best footballer, my idol, and to score and become the [match] winner, it couldn’t be better.” He said.
