Real-Madrid-Beats-Barcelona-2-1-to-Take-Five-Point-Lead-in-LaLiga-2

Real Madrid defeated Barcelona 2-1 in the El Clásico played at the Santiago Bernabéu on Sunday.

Both teams have had a good start to their La Liga season and were ready for the showdown. Barcelona were without several of their key players who were injured. Real Madrid started strong, and it was Kylian Mbappe who scored the opener after a Barcelona mix-up in defence, but the goal was ruled out for offside. Ferran Torres, on the other hand, saw his tame effort easily saved by Thibaut Courtois. Kylian Mbappe was then put through by Jude Bellingham, and the France international scored to give the home side the lead. Barcelona responded well, and Fermin Lopez levelled the scoring after a lovely cutback by Marcus Rashford. Jude Bellingham then added the second for Real Madrid deep into the first half after Militao’s header.

In the second half, Real Madrid were awarded a penalty kick after Garcia appeared to have handled the ball. Mbappe stepped up but saw his penalty saved by Szczęsny. It was a quiet day for Lamine Yamal, who offered little in attack as his effort sailed above the bar. Fermin Lopez then saw his effort easily saved by Courtois after a lovely solo run. Rodrygo had the chance to finish off the game for Madrid, but his effort was saved.

Real Madrid are now leading the La Liga table with 27 points, while Barcelona are second with 22 points.
