England advanced to the quarter finals after an emphatic 3-2 win over Mexico in the round of 16.

Mexico went into the game having won all their games at the World Cup. England started the game on the front foot as Antony Gordon set up Harry Kane, but his effort went off target. Jude Bellingham then opened the scoring towards halftime to add to his tally. Minutes later he added his second of the game after a lovely cutback by Harry Kane. Mexico managed to pull one back through Julián Quiñones in the 42nd minute.

After the halftime break, more drama was witnessed when Quansa was sent off after a VAR check on a dangerous tackle. England were then awarded a penalty kick after Antony Gordon was brought down in the box. Harry Kane slotted the penalty home to give them a 3-1 lead. Kane then conceded a penalty in his own box, which Raul Jimenez converted to bring them closer. Mexico then went on to search for a level but never came as England held on.

England will now face Norway, who defeated Brazil 2-1.
