Chelsea have completed the signing of Robert Sanchez from Brighton.

The Spaniard defender will join the Blues for a fee of around £25 million, including add-ons, and he will sign a long-term contract at the club. Sanchez is expected to compete with fellow Spain goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga and will replace Edouard Mendy, who has joined the Saudi Arabian League.

Speaking after signing for Chelsea, Sanchez revealed signing for the club is the right step in his career: “Chelsea is the best choice I could have made because the opportunity they presented in front of me is amazing—to develop more, to keep learning, and to compete for the number 1 spot and show everybody how good I can be and play for the club in years to come.” He said.

Chelsea also remain in negotiations with Brighton for Moises Caicedo, who has been their number one transfer target.
