Manchester City have confirmed the signing of Croatian defender Josko Gvardiol from RB Leipzig.

The Croatian defender will join Pep Guardiola’s side for a fee of about £77.5 million with undisclosed add-ons. Gvardiol has signed a five-year contract with the Citizens, and he will become the second signing of the season for City after the departure of Mateo Kovacic from Chelsea.

Speaking after his unveiling, Gvardiol said he is eager to work under Pep Guardiola. “To be joining City is something very special for me and my family. To have the chance to work with Pep Guardiola, too, will be amazing. I know I am not yet the finished article, and I am sure my game will progress under the best coach in football.” He said.

City will host Arsenal tomorrow in the Community Shield.
