Manchester United defeated Brentford 2-1 on Monday evening to move a step closer to Champions League qualification.
Michael Carrick side started on the front foot when Kobbie Mainoo teed up Amad Diallo early on but was denied by Van den Berg. Kelleher then swaved away Harry Maguire’s header in the line to keep the scores level. United then got the opening goal when Casemiro opened the scoring after Maguire headed the ball back in the box. Igor Thiago had a glorious chance to level but missed his kick. United then added the second goal through Benjamin Sesko, who was teed up by Bruno Fernandes.
In the second half, Brentford improved and hit the woodwork through Diogo Ouatarra from close range. Matheaus Jensen then pulled one back for the away side in the 87th minute after finding the far corner. United managed to hold on to the win, and they need just one win to qualify for the Champions League next season.
Bruno Fernandes collected his 19th Premier League assist, and he needs just one to equal the all-time record of 20 assists held by Thierry Henry and Kevin De Bruyne.
