AFC Leopards coach Fred Ambani voiced frustration over his team’s wasteful finishing for the second time this January, even after a 1-0 win against Sofapaka on January 25 propelled Ingwe to joint-top of the FKF Premier League.

Despite dominating with 63% possession and 10 first-half chances—including five on target from players like Samuel Ssenyonjo, Tyson Otieno, and Ronald Sichenje—Leopards scored only via a second-half set-piece mishap by Sofapaka. Goalkeeper Humphrey Katasi’s late saves secured the points.

“It wasn’t easy,” Ambani told Azam TV. “We could’ve wrapped it up in the first half but wasted too many opportunities. Sofapaka pushed hard later—we need to sharpen our finishing.”

This echoes his concerns after the prior month’s 2-0 win over Nairobi United, where an own-goal and one of six on-target shots clinched it. Despite training tweaks, the problem lingers.

Ambani hinted at tactical shifts: “Players crowd the box, which is risky. We’ll practice shots from distance to score earlier and control games better.”
