Arsenal have issued a fresh update concerning the newly signed defender Jurrien Timber, after he was substituted last week during their first opening match against Nottingham Forest at the Emirates Stadium.

According to reports, the 22 year old defender sustained an injury to his ACL and will  undergo surgery that will see him out for an extended period of time.

Timber has now told fans that he will repay their loyalty and support when he returns to the pitch in a couple of weeks.

“Gutted to share that my injury is more serious than expected, especially after the warm welcome I’ve received. I wanted to repay you on the pitch, which will not be possible for the forthcoming period. Thanks for making me feel at home, and see you at The Carpet” said Timber in a tweet that was shared across all his platforms.

The defender had a significant impact on the outcome of Arsenal vs. Manchester City’s Community Shield match, which the Gunners ultimately won on penalties.
