Arsenal came from a goal down to beat Brentford 3-1 and keep pressure on Liverpool.

Bryan Mbeumo opened the scoring for Brentford early on a Damsgaard pass as the Cameroon international cut in from the right flank. The hosts nearly got the second goal after a Raya mistake from Keane Lewis’s effort, but the Spaniard retrieved the ball. Arsenal drew level through Gabriel Jesus as Thomas Partey’s effort fell into his path.

In the second half, Mikel Arteta’s side completed the comeback when Brentford failed to deal with Nwaneri’s corner, and Mikel Merino slotted home. Minutes later, Gabriel Martinelli scored the third goal for the Gunners after Nathan Collins headed the ball into the path of the Brazilian. Arsenal are now six points behind leaders Liverpool, although Arne Slot’s side has a game in hand.

Speaking after the win, Mikel Arteta revealed his side showed a lot of composure to turn the result in their favor. “I think we showed a lot of composure, a lot of desire, and a lot of attitude to turn the result around, to make things happen, and to take the initiative.” He said.
