The Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta has probably admitted that Arsenal need to add up their squad on their advantage for the coming season.

The Gunners are set to face the premier league champions Man city at the Etihad stadium just after the international break on Sunday in a crunch premier league title clash.

It will not determine who wins the title this season, but it could go some way to giving us an idea of the destination of the crown come the end of May. Both teams will go into it with question marks over key players, with the international break potentially depriving us of some of the best players on both sides.

Mikel Arteta will be keen to assess Bukayo Saka after the player left the England camp before the 1-0 defeat to Brazil after suffering a muscle injury, while Gabriel Martinelli and Gabriel Magalhaes pulled out of the Brazil squad with injury themselves. Thomas Partey and Takehiro Tomiyasu, however, played in a behind closed doors friendly last week, while Jurrien Timber continues his recovery from an ACL injury.

Arsenal’s sporting director Edu is reportedly eyeing a move for Sporting CP defender Ousmane Diomande. Nottingham Forest attacking midfielder Morgan Gibbs-White and Brentford’s striker Ivan Toney was also linked with a move to north London over the summer.

“The plans that we have for the summer are very clear,” he told reporters. “They were done almost at the start of the season understanding what we can have, the contract situations with some players, and how we can improve certain areas of the team. This situation doesn’t change that.”
