Bayern Munich qualified for the UEFA Champions League next round after beating Celtic 2-1 on aggregate at home.

The Bundesliga champions needed to win the game after the first leg ended in a 1-1 draw last week. The Celtics had glorious opportunities to open the lead, but Kuhn’s effort was cleared off the line by Raphael Guerreiro. The home side had chances with Olise’s header going wide, while Englishman Harry Kane hit the post just at the stroke of halftime.

In the second half, Bayern started on the front foot, and Leon Goretzka’s effort was well saved by Celtic’s goalkeeper, Kasper Schmeichel. The visitors then scored the opening goal through Kuhn after Kimmich failed to clear the danger in his own box.Bayern then created many chances after going a goal down, and once again Schmeichel produced great saves to deny both Kimmich and Goretzka. It was substitute Alphonse Davies who scored the goal that took them through after meeting a rebound off Schmeichel’s save.

Speaking after the game, Vincent Kompany, the Bayern head coach, attributed the busy schedule to the below-par performance. “We always talked about how many matches we have in six days.It is simple. The first half could have been better; the second half was good. We had chances and could have scored more goals.”It is not easy to get through such a program. You have to see it in this context. Our goal is for performance and results to match, starting Sunday.”He said.
