Beatrice Chebet, the reigning world champion in the 10,000m, received an Honorary Doctorate of Humane Letters from the University of Kabianga on 14 November during their 13th graduation ceremony in Kericho County. At just 25 years old, Chebet was celebrated for her remarkable achievements in global athletics and her inspiring influence on young Kenyan athletes.

Her 2025 season has been exceptional. She won double gold in both the 10,000m and 5,000m at the World Athletics Championships in Japan, triumphing over top competitors including Faith Kipyegon. This success continued her dominating form from the 2024 Paris Olympics, where she also took gold in these events.

Chebet has not lost a race this year, claiming victories in cross country and the Diamond League series, where she earned significant prize money. Highlights include wins in Spain at the Elgoibar Cross Country, the Diamond League meets in Xiamen, Rabat, Rome, and a record-breaking 5,000m performance at the Prefontaine Classic.

Her prize earnings this season exceed $120,000, underscoring her status as one of the most outstanding long-distance runners on the world stage today.
