Bournemouth secured a memorable 3-0 victory over AC Milan in the UEFA Europa League on Thursday at the Vitality Stadium.
The home team started on the front foot as Evanilson won an early penalty after his header struck Koni De Winter’s hand. Justin Kluivert converted from the spot in the eighth minute. Milan’s evening worsened when goalkeeper Mike Maignan received a straight red card in the 27th minute for pushing Tyler Adams in the face. Marcus Tavernier subsequently converted Bournemouth’s second penalty in the 32nd minute.
After the break, Kluivert narrowly missed the target, while substitute Rayan headed over Ben Gannon-Doak’s cross. Milan struggled to create opportunities with ten men, failing to register a shot on target. Amine Adli completed the scoring in the 84th minute, curling a superb free-kick past substitute goalkeeper Lorenzo Torriani.
Speaking after the loss, AC Milan boss Ruben Amorim defended his tactics: “They know this way of defending, and as I said, they tried to push in the final minutes and not take as many risks during the central part of the game. I try to put my players in the most comfortable position and try to change the game with substitutions. “He said.
