Chelsea drew 2-2 with Brentford on Saturday night in the Premier League.

Enzo Maresca heavily rotated the Chelsea squad to accommodate the space for injuries and international duty fatigue. Starting fullbacks Marc Cucurella and Reece James were both dropped to the bench, having started all their respective international games. Kevin Schade opened the scoring for Brentford after a lovely setupby Jordan Henderson. Enzo Fernandez saw his effort sail just wide off the post as they pushed for a leveller.

In the second half, both fullbacks, Cucurella and James, were brought in and immediately impacted the game. Pedro Neto saw his effort blocked by Pinnock. Substitute Cole Palmer scored his first goal of the season after Joao Pedro’s header. Moises Caicedo then scored what could have been the winner with a lovely volley outside the box. Fabio Carvalho, however, scored a 94th-minute leveller for the home side to snatch a late point.

Chelsea will fly off to Germany to face off against Bayern Munich in the Champions League on Wednesday.
