Chelsea climbed back into the top four after a narrow 1-0 win against Everton at Stamford Bridge.
Enzo Maresca’s side, who are fighting for the top four spot in the Premier League, started the day in the sixth place. In the first half, largely dominated by Chelsea, Noni Madueke saw his effort well pushed away by Pickford. Cole Palmer looked through on goal until Branthwaite brilliantly intercepted. Chelsea took the lead when Jackson was put through on goal by Enzo Fernandez and ended his goal drought.
In the second half, Everton improved, and Robert Sanchez denied Beto brilliantly to keep them ahead. Chelsea responded well, with Madueke testing Pickford once again after a brilliant run, but the England goalkeeper denied him once again.Jackson then scored, but he was offside when Cucurella shot his effort. Chelsea managed to hold on to the win and jumped into the top four.
Speaking after the win, Romeo Lavia, who returned from injury, was happy with his recovery. “I had a lot of fun being back in the team and helping to get a big win. Everton improved in the second half, but that is football. Everyone has their good times.” He said.
