Chelsea returned to winning ways after beating Tottenham Hotspur 1-0 at Stamford Bridge.

Enzo Maresca’s side returned back to winning ways and eventually to the top four. Chelsea started on the front foot, and it was Malo Gusto who had the early chance, but his effort went into the side net. Vicario then tipped over Sancho’s effort above the bar after a brilliant ball by Pedro Neto. Spurs offered little in the first half as both teams went level at half time.

Enzo Fernandez then opened the scoring early in the second half with a glancing header after Cole Palmer’s cross. Caicedo then scored a superb volley after Fernández’s free kick, but VAR ruled out the goal for an offside in the build-up. Matte Sarr thought he had levelled for the visitors after a long-range effort, but VAR ruled the goal out for a foul on Caicedo. Sanchez did brilliantly at the end in keeping Son’s effort out. The London derby did not disappoint as over 10 yellow cards were issued.

Speaking after the win, defender Levi Colwill praised coach Maresca.”He’s proper hands-on; he tells me what I need to improve on. If I make a mistake in training, he says, “Come on, this is happening in games. You need to take the next step, under him we’re going to improve bundles.” He said.
