Manchester City returned to Premier League duties with a 3-1 win over Everton at Goodison Park.

Fresh from winning the club world cup, City found themselves a goal down in the first half after a mistake by Rodri, and Everton took the lead through Jack Harrison. City kept on pushing but could not find the equaliser as Everton went with a 1-0 half-time lead.

In the second half, Manchester City wasted no time and got the leveller through Phil Foden. City later took the lead after VAR awarded them a penalty kick after a handball in the box by the Everton defender. Julian Alvarez stood strong and gave City their first lead of the night. Bernado Silva sealed the win for Pep Guardiola’s side after a defensive mixture by Everton defenders.
