Chelsea defeated Crystal Palace 2-1 at Stamford Bridge yesterday in the Premier League.

The Mauricio Pochettino side started the game on the front foot, as they almost scored immediately through Ian Matsen. Mykhailo Mudyrk opened the scoring minutes later after a lovely cutback from Malo Gusto to score his third goal of the season. Crystal Palace scored the leveller late in the first half through Michael Olise, who offered little in attack.

In the second half, Crystal Palace had their chances, but Petrovic stood strong to deny Mateta and Olise their chances. Chelsea started the second half slow but got things moving when Nicholas Jackson missed a sitter after a lovely set-up by Gallagher. Minutes later, Jackson scored the second goal for Chelsea, but VAR ruled out the goal for offside.

The game seemed to be headed for a draw, but substitute Noni Madueke was brought down in the box by Eze, and VAR was eventually awarded the spot kick. Madueke stood strong and sent Dean Henderson the wrong way as he scored the winning goal for Chelsea.
