Chelsea kept pressure on Liverpool after a 2-1 win over Brentford in the Premier League at Stamford Bridge.

Enzo Maresca’s side needed victory, especially after both Liverpool and Arsenal dropped points during the weekend. In a first half largely dominated by Chelsea, Brentford’s goalkeeper Flekken was alert to deny both Palmer’s and Madueke’s brilliant efforts. Marc Cucurella then opened the scoring for Chelsea with a brilliant header from Madueke’s cross to give the home side a halftime lead.

In the second half, Chelsea continued piling pressure as Nicolas Jackson missed a sitter a few yards out after brilliant skill by Sancho. Saancho then brilliantly went past Brentford goalkeeper after being put through by Paalmeer, but his cross was cleared by Pinnock. Roberto Sanchez saved Carvalho’s effort off the bar to keep the Blues ahead. Nicolas Jackson then scored the second goal for Chelsea after a brilliant pass by Enzo Fernandez. Brentford pulled one back through Mbuemo in the final minutes, but Chelsea maintained the win.

Speaking after the win, Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca insisted the team is not in a title race yet.For me, we are NOT ready”.“You can talk about the title, and the fans can dream about the title… absolutely. If you ask me, I will tell you what I think. We’re not ready, but we are happy the fans can dream.” He said
