Villarreal striker Nicolas Jackson has completed his medicals ahead of his move to Chelsea.
The Senegal forward’s Villarreal contract contains a €35 million (£30.1 million) release clause, and the specifics of an eight-year deal at Stamford Bridge are still being worked out as Chelsea have agreed to activate it.
Jackson has become a prominent target for Chelsea this summer as they try to upgrade their front line after already signing Christopher Nkunku from RB Leipzig in Germany. He led Villarreal in scoring with 13 goals and five assists in all competitions last season. A formal announcement of his transfer to Stamford Bridge is anticipated in the coming days.
Chelsea are still rebuilding their squad this summer and will hope Jackson can fill in for Kai Havertz, who has already completed a move to Arsenal. However, reports claim that incoming manager Mauriccio Pochettino has his eyes on Lautaro Martinez as his number one choice for the striker position.
