The FKF Branch Elections scheduled for tomorrow have been halted by a Kitui court.
A group known as the Kenya Football Association (KFA) has filed a case, asserting that they are the rightful body to oversee the elections, not the FKF.
The court has issued an injunction preventing the FKF from conducting the elections until the case is heard.
The FKF Electoral Board had already trained more than 100 Returning and Presiding Officers to conduct the elections of the November 9 County elections at the Kenya Institute of Special Education (KISE) in Nairobi.
The decision means that those vying for different FKF branch positions will have to wait until further notice.
The outcome of the case might also have impact on planned 7 December 2024 FKF general election which includes aspirants such as;
Doris Petra who is the current FKF Vice President, while Nick Mwendwa is the outgoing FKF President.
Hussein Mohamed who is the CEO of Extreme Sports, and MacDonald Mariga who is a former Kenyan international footballer, the only Kenyan to have won the UEFA Champions League with Inter Milan in 2010.
Barry Otieno who is a former FKF CEO, and his running mate Lucy Kaiga who is the outgoing Chairperson of the FKF Nyandarua Branch.
Chris Amimo heads youth football at FKF, is the proprietor of Ligi Ndogo, and is a former FKF NEC member. Antony Makau is the interim Eastern region NEC member and a former Referees Committee Vice Chairman.
Sammy ‘Kempes’ Owino who is a former Kenyan international based in the US, while his running mate Evance Kadenge is the current Nzoia Sugar FC chairman.
Tom Alila who is a former FKF NEC member, and his running mate Beryl Adhiambo is a former referee and coach.
Sam Nyamweya who is a former FKF President and KFF Secretary General. He lost his seat to Nick Mwendwa in 2016. His running mate Patricia Mutheu is a former Mathare United CEO and a former MCA.
Cleophas Shimanyula is the current chairman and owner of Kakamega Homeboyz, while Twaha Mbarak is the Vice Chairman of Bandari FC and a former FKF Vice President.
