Cristiano Ronaldo has left Portugal’s training camp in Copenhagen after a growing disagreement with head coach Jorge Jesus.

The 41-year-old captain left on Wednesday, shortly after Jesus confirmed that Ronaldo would again be left on the bench for Portugal’s Nations League clash against Denmark. Tensions reportedly began after Ronaldo was left unused in Portugal’s 2-1 victory over Norway despite being told he could come on. Jesus admitted Ronaldo was unhappy but insisted there had been no serious incident between them. Ronaldo subsequently trained separately before deciding to leave the camp following a conversation with Portuguese Football Federation president Pedro Proença.

During his press conference, Jorge Jesus said, “It seems like there was an issue between us, but there was no issue,” “I’m the one who makes the decisions, and everybody knows that.”He said.

Cristiano took two social media platforms to confirm his departure. “After the press conference of the national team and following a conversation with the president of the Portuguese Football Federation, I have decided to leave the national team training camp. In time, I will tell all the Portuguese the truth about the reasons that motivated me to leave. ” He said.

It had been earlier reported that Ronaldo wanted to retire after the world cup but Portugal federation convinced him to stay.It is yet to be clarified what next steps will be taken by Ronaldo.
