Ouma already missed the one-all draw at home against Kalmar and is set to stay out of league action until July with the league taking a break after this weekend to pave way for the FIFA international break coming up



Kenyan international Erick ‘Marcelo’ Ouma is set to miss AIK’s top-tier encounter against IF Elfsborg set for Sunday after the Swedish Football Association’s Disciplinary Committee extended his suspension.

The former Gor Mahia right back was red-carded in stoppage time of their match against Djurgården after being caught up in a brawl that saw two AIK players sent off.

Following the red card, Ouma already missed the one-all draw at home against Kalmar and is set to stay out of league action until July with the FIFA international break coming up.

This was the first time that the Kenyan was receiving a red card while playing for AIK since joining them in January 2020, 86 competitive games later.

“In connection with the match Djurgården – AIK on May 28, 2023, Axel Björnström and Erick Otieno were sent off for gross misdemeanors and today SvFF’s Disciplinary Committee announced that they are also suspended for AIK’s upcoming home match against IF Elfsborg.

The duo was not eligible for the home match against Kalmar FF yesterday and will now also be missing in the next round, as Bilal Hussein is also suspended after picking up three yellow cards,” the club wrote on their website.

AIK have had a bad start to the season which has left them in the relegation zone already.

After 11 matches, they have won just one match and picked draws in four, losing the other six to accumulate just seven matches out of a possible 33.

Their next opponent, Elfsborg, home to former Nairobi City Stars midfielder Timothy Ouma have had a different season and are on a 10-game unbeaten streak. they occupy the second spot with 26 points, two behind leaders Malmo.

Ouma is expected to link up with the Harambee Stars squad that is currently in camp preparing for the four-team friendly tournament in Mauritius where besides the host, they will face off with Pakistan and Djibouti.
