As it was his second yellow card offence, Hernandez was given his marching orders, leaving AC Milan with a one-man disadvantage with the scores tied on aggregate.
Feyenoord took advantage of the extra man and were on the ascendency following the red card, eventually finding the winner in the 73rd minute.
Substitute Julian Carranza rose highest to meet Hugo Bueno’s cross from the left and gave Feyenoord the eventual winning goal to advance to the UEFA champions league round of 16.
