
The football community united in mourning the passing away of Liverpool striker Diogo Jota and his brother Andre.
Liverpool striker Diogo Jota was pronounced dead together with his brother Andre after a car accident on Thursday morning. Club teammates, national teammates, and also footballers from all over the world send their condolences.
Liverpool confirmed that the number 20 will be retired in honour of Diogo Jota.Former Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp said, “I’m heartbroken to hear about the passing of Diogo and his brother André. Diogo was not only a fantastic player but also a great friend and a loving and caring husband and father! We will miss you so much!” He quoted.
Liverpool owners paid tribute to Jota. “On behalf of the leadership teams at Liverpool Football Club and Fenway Sports Group, we offer our sincere and heartfelt condolences to the family and friends of our number 20, Diogo Jota, and his brother Andre Silva.” Read the statement.
Fans have also paid tribute to the striker, and teams have observed a minute of silence before playing.
