Former England manager Gareth Southgate has shut down Manchester United links for the head coach job.
Southgate resigned from the England head coach after suffering a 2-1 loss to Spain in the Euros 2024. Over the past week, reports have leaked online that Southgate is being looked at to take over the Manchester United job. As reported by SkySports, Southgate has now decided to shut down the rumors. “I won’t coach next year, for sure. I’m certain of that,” he said. “I need to give myself time to make good decisions. When you come out of a really big role, you need to give your body time.” He said.
This comes at a time where Manchester United Dutch manager Erik Ten Hag is under immense pressure as United have endured a slow start to the season and are on a winless run in the Premier League. Reports suggested that Ten Hag will be assessed during the international break on whether he should continue as the head coach or not.
