Kenya Women’s National team Harambee starlets suffered a defeat yesterday in Cameroon in the 2024 Africa Women’s Cup of Nations qualifier first leg.

Harambee Starlets will have to fight for a win in the second leg of the 2024 Africa Women’s Cup of Nations (WAFCON) qualifiers after suffering 1-0 loss against Cameroon in the first leg on Friday night.

The match was played at Reunification Stadium in Douala, Cameroon, where Spain-based defender Eliane Mambalano scored the all-important goal in the first half that gave the Indomitable Lionesses the needed advantage.

Kenya will host the second leg on September 26th at Nyayo National Stadium with the winner advancing to the second round of the competition.

Speaking after the match, Harambee starlet’s head coach, Beldine Odemba believes that Harambee Starlets still have a chance to advance to the second round.

“I believe my team still has a chance to qualify. We have noted areas to work on and we are ready for the return leg in Nairobi,” She said.
