On Thursday night, Harambee Stars defeated Asian champions Qatar 2-1 in a friendly game played at the Al Janoub Stadium in Doha.

Michael Olunga, who was playing in the nation where he plays club football, had a wonderful opportunity to give Kenya the lead in the 13th minute but did not score. Harambee Stars took the lead in the 19th minute when Okumu headed in a corner kick from Kenneth Muguna that was well-weighted.

Qatar equalised in the 34th minute on a penalty kick by captain AL Haydos following a foul inside the penalty area and brought the scores level at halftime.

Olunga worked hard, and in the 90th minute, Nondi scored the game-winning goal from three yards out as a substitute. The Kenyan captain forced his way down the left before sending in a powerful low cross that Nondi scored for the winner.

The win is a huge confidence booster for the Stars and coach Firat, especially considering that it came against a team that was ranked far higher than them.
