Despite winning two Ligue 1 titles and the Trophée des Champions, the Argentine superstar never truly settled in the French capital, and he has admitted he was deeply unhappy during his stay in Paris.
Speaking about his Paris experience, Messi did not hold back in describing his frustrations, saying,
“I had to leave Barcelona, and I spent two years in Paris that I didn’t enjoy. I was not happy on a daily basis, with games, training, it was hard for me to adapt.”
Despite playing alongside superstars like Neymar and Kylian Mbappe, the eight-time Ballon d’Or winner struggled to find joy in his football at PSG.
Constant criticism from fans, high expectations, and Champions League disappointment only made matters worse.
Messi was even whistled and booed by sections of the PSG fanbase, adding to his already growing frustrations.
His discontent was so strong that, during a conversation with Charlotte FC’s Brecht Dejaegere, Messi described his two years at PSG with the blunt phrase “la mierda,” which translates to “s**t” in English, leaving no doubt about how much he disliked his time at the club.
Following his PSG exit, Messi opted for a fresh challenge in Major League Soccer, joining Inter Miami.
Unlike his time in Paris, his move to the United States has been a resounding success, with the Argentine maestro finally enjoying his football again.

I’m enjoying the club, games, teammates, family, friends I’m not anticipating things. I’m just loving and enjoying the moment.
Inter Miami attracted me as the club is growing, developing. I wanted to come here to help the club become bigger, also giving the MLS more power as a global brand.”
Messi also revealed that playing in MLS was always part of his plan, saying, “I always had in mind to try a new chapter in MLS. I always wanted this move.
