Nagelsmann is off, former PSG player set to become their coach.Thiago Motta played for the Parisians and won 18 trophies before becoming their youth coach

For the last decade and a half, Paris Saint Germain has been searching for a coach who will bring them the Champions League trophy.

The Ligue 1 titles have become normality and are taken for granted, so winning the league is not something which is even considered celebrated.

They tried Carlo Ancelotti, Laurent Blanc, Unai Emery (he started the era of Mbappe and Neymar), then Thomas Tuchel, Mauricio Pochettino, and the recently released Christophe Galtier.

The last four did not even manage to control the ever-problematic dressing room at Princes Park, where a new coach is being sought. And as the reliable L’Equipe reports, it will not be Julian Nagelsmann.

The young expert, who was suddenly replaced by Bayern at the end of March, negotiated with the Parisians for weeks, but no agreement was reached.

The Qatari owners wanted the German and Thierry Henry as his assistant. However, the legendary Frenchman dropped out, and Nagelsmann’s previous assistant Dino Topmeller became the head coach of Eintracht Frankfurt.

The French media claim that Paris Saint-Germain is negotiating with the ‘B option’ and that the promotion of a new coach is expected in the coming week, although they did not specify who it is.

But the Spanish Relevo reveals that this man is Thiago Motta, a former PSG player and the man who very successfully led Bologna in Serie A last season.

The Italian-Brazilian just started his coaching career in the Paris Saint-Germain academy, for which he played as a midfielder from 2012 to 2018, collecting as many as 18 trophies.

He had his first independent training engagement in Genoa in the competitive 2021/22 he led Spezia. At the beginning of last season, he inherited the helm of Bologna from the late Sinisa Mihajlovic.

His contract with the current team runs until the summer of 2024, but the Serie A club are aware that there is a big chance that Motta will leave them. The 40-year-old expert was recently targeted by Napoli as well, their controversial owner Di Laurentiis surprised everybody and selected Rudi Garcia instead.
