Lewis Hamilton has shared on his Instagram Story a post calling for the accountability of the English media and in support of Bukayo Saka after England lost 1 to nil against Iceland .

According to the Formula 1 driver, English media must be held accountable for dehumanizing black players when the team loses a match against their opponents.

“We need to hold the English media accountable for systemically vilifying Black players. The constant scapegoating of black players needs to stop. This endemic racial discrimination has no place in football, yet countless news outlets suggest otherwise.”

Hamilton highlighted a case where the media used Arsenal and England winger Bukayo as a face of failure, a player who only managed to play 24 minutes and was not on the field when England conceded.

“This is not the first time Bukayo Saka has been racially abused. 3 years ago, he, alongside Marcus Rashford, and Jadon Sancho, were racially abused after missing a penalty in the Euros final. For far too long we have seen black players in the England shirt being dehumanized and abused by the media,” added Hamilton.

He further called on the media to be responsible and avoid misalignment in their communication and added that if the England National Team is to achieve success, they must include and respect all the black players equally with their white counterparts.
