Argentina maestro and highly decorated player Lionel Messi has paid tribute to fellow World Cup winner Ángel Di María, who has officially retired from football.
In a letter to Di María, Messi wrote that they have probably talked about everything and expressed his hope to see him soon, thanking him for the time they enjoyed together.
“I hope you enjoy this evening a lot with your family and loved ones. We’ve said everything we needed to say. We shared so much, and who would have thought it would end this way? We’ll miss you a lot. See you soon,” said Messi.
Di María retires having won several trophies and accolades, including the World Cup.
According to Di María, the final against France was one of his favorite games of all time.
