Liverpool have reached an agreement with Newcastle for the transfer of striker Alexander Isak.

The Premier League champions will now break the record for the biggest transfer spent in England after reaching a fee worth £130m. The Swedish striker has not been training with Newcastle since the pre-season, as he had asked to leave the club. He even failed to show up in practice in an effort to force the clubs to reach an agreement. Liverpool have now broken their own record following the transfer of Florian Wirtz earlier this window.The 25-year-old striker will sign a six-year contract at the club.

Isak joined Newcastle from Real Sociedad and has led them to Carabao Cup victory and a Champions League place. Liverpool are also looking to sign Marc Guehi from Crystal Palace before the deadline. Newcastle are also expected to up their interest in Brentford striker Yoane Wissa.
