Manchester City reached the Carabao Cup final after beating Newcastle 3-1 in the second leg.
Omar Marmoush needed only 7 minutes to open the scores after a quick one-two in the box. Willock almost levelled immediately, but James Trafford stood firm to deny him. Reijnders’ effort was tipped over the bar as the home side kept on the pressure. Marmoush then added his second of the night after looping Semenyo’s ball. Reijnders picked up a loose ball in the Newcastle area before finishing it off well. Kieran Trippier saw his free kick well saved by Trafford heading into the half-time break.
In the second half, Wissa wasted a glorious opportunity after being played through by Tonali after coming in. Reijnders saw his effort just sail over the bar for the home side. Antony Elanga then pulled one back for the away side, but it was too late. Harvey Barnes then scored, but his goal was ruled out for offside by Wissa.
Manchester City will now play Arsenal in the Carabao Cup final at Wembley.
