Security agencies have put in place robust measures to guarantee a safe Mashemeji Derby at Nyayo National Stadium on Sunday. Around 300 police officers from various units will be deployed, alongside 130 stewards from both Gor Mahia and AFC Leopards, to manage the expected capacity crowd during the high-stakes FKF Premier League clash.
The rescheduled match, set to kick off at 3 pm, will be preceded by a women’s derby between the Gor Mahia Queens and AFC Leopards Queens at 11:30 am. Organizers have held multiple pre-event meetings with Sports Kenya, the Football Kenya Federation, police, and club officials to finalize security and logistical arrangements.
Family-friendly entertainment, including performances by Musa Jakadala, will welcome fans starting from 9 am. Despite a recent scare involving some Gor Mahia players in accidents, all are fit to participate. Gor Mahia currently leads the league table, making this derby a highly anticipated encounter.
