Manchester United produced a stunning comeback to defeat Roma 3-2 in the UEFA Champions League at Old Trafford on Tuesday.

Roma struck first in the 11th minute when Matías Soulé finished Rodrigo Mora’s pass into the bottom corner. Donyell Malen doubled the visitors’ advantage from the penalty spot six minutes later after Ayden Heaven handled inside the box. United struggled to respond, with Matheus Cunha seeing an effort blocked, Bruno Fernandes shooting over, and Carlos Baleba missing the target.

United improved after the break, and Fernandes converted a retaken penalty in the 58th minute. Bryan Mbeumo nearly equalized, striking both posts with one effort, while Harry Maguire’s header was also denied. Cunha finally leveled in the 83rd minute before firing home the winner three minutes later following Shea Lacey’s pass. However, Cunha was sent off in stoppage time after receiving a second yellow card. United held on for a memorable victory.

Speaking after the win, United manager Michael Carrick insisted he will not be carried away. “Proud of a lot of people actually, proud of the players, and they deserve a lot of credit for pulling through that in a tough situation. It is really important for the players to know what this place can do. I am not getting too carried away with things, but it is an important night.” He said.
