After 33 years, Napoli finally received the Italian championship after a 1-1 away tie with Udinese.
Sandi Lovric gave Udinese an unexpected advantage, and Napoli had to win it the hard way because they only needed a point to win the seria A title.
In the second half, Victor Osimhen, their season’s best player, struck the equalizer after 52 minutes to ignite euphoria among Napoli supporters everywhere. It is their first championship in 33 years; their previous titles were won in 1987 and 1990, both during Diego Maradona’s playing days.
Speaking after scoring the scudetto goal, Victor Osimhen said he was very happy: “I can’t wait to come back in Naples to embrace our fans, even though tonight I already felt the warmth of the people. I’m happy for all the Neapolitans. I scored the Scudetto goal, it’s true, but anyone else could have scored it. I feel like a leader, and I never give up.” He said.
Napoli now have 80 points after playing 33 games since they were relieved after failing to seal the title last weekend.
