The 2022/23 Premier League season is drawing to a close nearly nine months of action. Many players have impressed in their respective clubs making their teams perform better. They have been key components in their teams realizing their pre-season targets.

Sports Flash identifies the premier league team of the season. Here are the best eleven

GOALKEEPER

NICK POPE

He has been key to Newcastle’s better defensive record in the league. He has conceded only 31 goals and kept 14 clean sheets in 37 matches. That has meant, when Pope is in goal, his team has conceded a goal every 105 minutes. Nick Pope’s per 90 minutes goals conceded stat is 0.86.

DEFENDERS

  • KIERAN TRIPPIER

The England international was named the Newcastle’s player of the season. Joining the club from Atletico Madrid in January 2022, the right back has guided the club to its first European football since the 2002/03.

  • JOHN STONES

He has to be the player of the season. Since his shift as a hybrid midfielder, the 28-year-old defender has been untouchable in Manchester City’s first eleven.

The France international has proven himself to be one of the Premier League’s best center-backs during his debut season in England.

  • LUKE SHAW

He has been really impressive under Eric Ten Hag this season. Ten Hag has heavily relied on the player after key injuries to his center half- Lisandro Martinez, and Rafael Varane. He has adapted really well.

He has played 25 matches which have resulted in four shots on target from a total of nine shots and has scored one goal. Luke Shaw averages 59 passes per match with a pass completion rate of 85% and has two assists.

MIDFIELDERS

  • Martin Odegaard

The Arsenal captain has been a leader on and off the pitch. He has played 34 matches. He has registered 31 shots on target from a total of 55 shots and has scored 15 goals (9.03 Xg) and 7 assists.

He has been a key factor towards Arsenal securing a top-four finish for the first time since the 2016/17 season.

  • Kevin Debruyne

Arguably one of the best midfielders in the world, Debruyne has shown his class this season. He is at the helm of the most assists in the league. He has 16 assists and 7 goals which have been vital to City winning their third successive Premier League trophy.

  • CASEMIRO

On August 2022, Manchester United landed on the 31-year-old Brazilian midfielder, he has been one of the best defensive midfielders in the league. His effect to the Manchester United team has been immense. He has so far helped Manchester United to bag the EFL Cup on top of securing for the Champions League next season.

STRIKERS

  • ERLING HAALAND

During his first season, Haaland has broken Premier League records, left right and center. He surpassed Mohamed Salah’s record of 32 goals in a 38-game Premier League season and beat Alan Shearer and Cole who managed to score 34 goals back when it was a 42-match competition in the early mid-Nineties. He has 36 goals and seven assists.

HARRY KANE

In a weak Tottenham side, Kane has not stop scoring goals. He has broken unprecedented records by overtaking Wayne Rooney to become the Premier League second all-time top scorer (211 goals). He has 28 goals so far- very remarkable.

BUKAYO SAKA

Tony Adams, an Arsenal Legend said: “Lionel Messi is the only better player than Arsenal Star Bukayo Saka in the world right now.”

Saka has been immense in the incredible Arsenal team netting 12 goals and 10 assists.
